Middle River man killed in truck crash on Route 309
On behalf of Law Offices of Steven H. Dorne posted in Truck Accidents on February 11, 2016.
A truck accident is usually more complex and more likely to cause serious injuries than a car accident. A truck’s larger size also means that it is more likely to involve more than one vehicle, especially in dense traffic and poor weather. A recent semi truck accident shows how these factors can combine to cause a deadly crash.
A 61-year-old Middle River man was killed after an accident on Feb. 1 at 11:15 p.m., according to Maryland State Police. The crash occurred in Queen Anne as the man was driving a Ford truck on Route 309 towards Horseshoe Road. Police said that the Ford truck crossed over the centerline and collided head-on with a Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
A crash team performed a reconstruction of the collision, which closed Route 309 for almost 3.5 hours. Maryland State Police added that they also responded to 12 other vehicle crashes on Feb. 1.
The man driving the Ford truck died at the scene, according to police. The 54-year-old man driving the Peterbilt tractor-trailer and the 49-year-old female passenger were transported to Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and released.
A victim of a trucking accident should understand that trucking companies regard accidents as just the cost of doing business. They often have teams that can respond rapidly to an accident and document evidence that will support their position. It is therefore essential to make fast decisions regarding legal options in these cases.
