2 injured after police chase in Herndon

On behalf of Law Offices of Steven H. Dorne posted in Car Accidents on January 17, 2013.

Everyone knows, or should know, that auto accidents can cause serious injuries, and victims may need hospitalization or medical care. Car accident victims whose injuries resulted from another driver’s negligence need to be aware of their legal options for pursuing compensation for medical bills and other costs resulting from the crash. Even if you were inside a car driven by a negligent driver, you still have the right to seek compensation for your injuries.

On Jan. 8, the driver of an SUV was allegedly fleeing police when the vehicle crashed and rolled over, according to officials. The driver and one passenger were being pursued by police when the SUV ran a red light and collided with another car at an intersection near Herndon High School in Fairfax County.

The chase is said to have started after a Herndon officer tried to stop the SUV for speeding. The SUV pulled over briefly, according to the officer, but then sped away toward the school. Police officials indicated that that the pursuing officers had backed off when the pursuit came closer to the school, but the SUV continued, collided with a student’s car and rolled over multiple times.

The two occupants of the SUV were hospitalized, and a news report doesn’t specify their injuries. Luckily, the young driver of the other vehicle emerged from the crash uninjured. However, it’s always a good idea for car accident victims to monitor their health after a crash. Sometimes an injury makes itself known in the days and weeks following the accident.

In this particular case, the injured passenger in the SUV may have grounds for personal injury claim.
