The car accident occurred on the beltway between the exits of Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue.

Maryland State Police said in the initial investigation that a passenger vehicle crashed into another vehicle that had been parked on the right hand shoulder of the road. Three people were outside that vehicle and person was inside the vehicle when it was struck. A spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue said the team treated five people at the scene sending four of them to local hospitals and a fifth person declined to be transported to the hospital for treatment.
