Two dead in Maryland after road rage incident on I-95

On behalf of Law Offices of Steven H. Dorne posted in Car Accidents on December 6, 2012.

On the morning of Nov. 24th, a tragic accident on I-95 ended in two deaths and three injuries. Police are still investigating the incident, but they suspect that road rage may have played a role in causing the accident. The families of those killed in this car accident, as well as those who were injured, may therefore have a right to compensation depending on the results of an inquiry to find out who was responsible for the incident.

According to police, the accident occurred at around 2 a.m. A 2005 Lexus collided with a box truck while the car was attempting to enter the fast lane of traffic on I-95 north near Abingdon. The driver of the Lexus and his 17-year-old female passenger from Baltimore died in the accident. Another passenger in the car, a 38-year-old male from Randallstown, and the driver of the box truck, a 63-year-old male, were both injured and taken to Bayview Hospital. One officer who responded to the accident was treated for smoke inhalation at Upper Chesapeake Hospital and later released.

Authorities are hoping to find information about the occupants of a dark-colored Jeep that may have been involved in a road rage incident with the Lexus. Police say that both vehicles were pulled over on the shoulder just before the accident. In addition, people from the Jeep were seen walking toward the Lexus, and at least one person from the Jeep was observed banging on the car’s windows. Police say the driver of the Lexus tried to reenter traffic suddenly, and was hit by the truck. The nature of the suspected dispute is not known, and the incident and crash are both under investigation.

While the cause of this accident is currently unknown, its victims may have the right to compensation once fault is determined. It’s important for the injured victims and the families of those who were killed to understand their legal rights to ensure that they are upheld whatever the outcome of the investigation.
